About MangoTested
MangoTested is a free tools website built from Nepal, for Nepalis everywhere. We're starting with one tool, done properly — a Bikram Sambat to English date converter — before adding more.
The Problem With "Add 56 Years"
Most Nepali date converters use a flat shortcut: add roughly 56–57 years to a Gregorian date and call it Bikram Sambat. That works for most of the year — but Bikram Sambat is a lunisolar calendar, so its months don't line up neatly with Gregorian months. Near a month boundary, that flat shortcut can land you a day off, sometimes more. For a birthday, that's a minor annoyance. For a visa form, a DV lottery application, or a school enrollment deadline, a day off is the difference between a form that gets accepted and one that gets rejected. So instead of a shortcut, our converter checks every date against real calendar data, year by year, for the full range it covers: 13 April 1913 to 13 April 2034 (BS 1970–2090). Outside that range, it says so — it doesn't guess.
Built From Nepal, for the Diaspora First
We're based in Nepal, which means the mismatch between these two calendars isn't an abstract problem for us — it's the same paperwork friction that Nepalis abroad run into every time a US, UK, or Australian form asks for a date they only have in the other calendar. That's why the first tool we built solves exactly that, before anything else.
What We Actually Commit To
- Free, no account. Every tool on MangoTested works the moment you land on the page — no sign-up, no app, no paywall.
- Verified, not approximated. Every date is checked against real calendar data, not a flat-offset shortcut.
- Honest about limits. If a tool can't reliably answer something (like a date outside our supported range), it says so instead of giving a confident wrong answer.
- Slow and deliberate. We'd rather ship one tool that works properly than five that half-work.
What's Next
The Nepali date converter is live first. Next up: a Nepali festivals and holidays calendar, followed by birth-date lookup pages — so you can check what day of the week you were born on in either calendar. More tools will follow the same standard: tested before they ship, not guessed.
