Frequently asked questions
What does the Nepali Date Converter do?
It converts dates between the Nepali (Bikram Sambat) calendar and the English (Gregorian) calendar in both directions. Enter a date in either calendar and get the accurate matching date in the other.
What is Bikram Sambat and how is it different from the English calendar?
Bikram Sambat (BS) is the official calendar of Nepal. It's a lunisolar calendar, so it doesn't line up with the English (Gregorian) calendar on a fixed offset the gap between the two shifts slightly from year to year, which is why simple "+56 years" shortcuts can be wrong near month boundaries.
What year is it in Nepal right now?
As of now, it's the year 2083 in the Nepali (Bikram Sambat) calendar. The Nepali year changes in mid-April (around 13–14 April) with Nepali New Year, so this will move to 2084 BS after that date.
What are the 12 months of the Nepali calendar?
Baisakh, Jestha, Ashadh, Shrawan, Bhadra, Ashwin, Kartik, Mangsir, Poush, Magh, Falgun, and Chaitra.
Is the Nepali Date Converter accurate?
Yes, every date is checked against real calendar data year by year, not an approximation. The converter covers 13 April 1913 to 13 April 2034 and clearly states when a date falls outside that range instead of guessing.
